Meet Janelle Henderson, an accomplished educator holding a master’s degree and TESOL License in Human Resources/Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages from The Ohio State University/Ashland University (2013/2019). Specializing in ACT/SAT Reading/Writing, Writing, Study Skills, College Essays, ESL, English, ELA, Social Studies, Basic Reading/Phonics, she brings over 20 years of experience in the education field. Janelle’s journey began by teaching English in a middle school outside of Tokyo, Japan. Upon returning to the U.S., working at The Ohio State University in various roles before obtaining her master’s degree and teaching license. Over the past 5 years, she has dedicated herself to teaching middle school and high school ESL and ELA full-time, combining a passion for learning with a commitment to helping students become effective communicators. Expertise extends to standardized test preparation as she taught ACT/SAT classes at Ohio Chinese School for 7 years, achieving remarkable results. As a former college admissions officer, possessing unique insights into the admissions process, guiding students in crafting compelling essays and applications. Beyond academics, finding joy in helping students experience the ‘lightbulb’ moment, whether acing a test, understanding a complex text, or excelling in daily communication. She, speaks Japanese and Spanish, aiming to visit a new country every year. Love for books, cats, and tacos adds a delightful touch to a vibrant personality.
